George and Mary are doing their grocery shopping for the week, and they have agreed that they cannot spend more than $130 in this trip. They have a list of items that they agree are essential purchases and they will buy additional items depending upon what they can afford. Using what you have learned in this section, explain a strategy they can use to estimate how much money they will have left after they have made their essential purchases. Give your own estimate and then make a list of the extra purchases you would suggest they make that still stay within their budget. Essential Purchases Salmon steaks: $12.98 Chicken breasts: $9.78 Hamburger meat: $8.23 Pork chops: $7.21 Milk: $4.17 Ham (for sandwiches): $7.27 Bread: $2.14 Butter: $2.19 Cheese (for sandwiches): $7.26 Cheese (block): $4.22 Assorted vegetables and lettuce: $23.14 Assorted fruit: $7.18 Tuna fish: $5.72 Eggs: $3.16 Coffee: $7.88 Extra Purchases Ice cream: $8.99 Cola: $6.14 Potato chips: $3.16 Tortilla chips: $4.19 Salsa: $3.72 Frozen pizza: $11.42 Popsicles: $3.99 (i'm not asking anyone to actually do this for me, I just need guidance/someone to explain to me how to do this)

Add up all the numbers, subtract that amount from 130, and see if it is too little or too much. If it is too much then find items repeated and suggest to get rid of them.

And for equation just put what you had to subtract.

like say n is the amount, 130-n=?

does that make sense to you?
