OpenStudy (lolaismy):

What is the oxidation state of each element in the species Mn(ClO4)3? I'm going over oxi-redox reactions from a long time ago and I'm trying to remember properly. Mn=3+ Cl=7+ and oxygen=2- right?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

How did you come at that answer?

OpenStudy (lolaismy):

due to the 3 molecules of ClO, I assumed Mn=3+, because oxygen is always 2-, then -2*4=-8 total charge for 0, the thing is that ClO4 has a charge of -1, the difference is 7 electrons thus Cl=7+?

OpenStudy (lolaismy):

@ShizukaTheOtaku is that the right thinking for this?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Yes, your answer is correct.

OpenStudy (lolaismy):

OpenStudy (anonymous):
