Compare and Contrast the Geometries, polarity, and stronger H-Bonds between HCl and HF

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Could you guys help??

OpenStudy (anonymous):

does anyone use this thing?? HALP!!

OpenStudy (anonymous):

HF- sp3 tetrahedral, Has Hygrogen bonding which increase bp, and F is very electronegative, so it is more polar HCl- sp3 tetrahedral, Weaker Hydrogen bonging, so this is less polar

OpenStudy (anonymous):

if its lest then .4 its non polar if its larger than its polar good luck:)

OpenStudy (anonymous):

that does not answer the question

OpenStudy (anonymous):

HF would be more polar then HCl because Florine is more electromagnetic than Cl, and because of this HF has the stronger H-bonds. They have the same electron pair arrangement: linear. They also have the same molecular structure/geometry: linear. Hope that helped in some way.
