FAN AND MEDAL A researcher places a radio advertisement offering $32 in exchange for participation in a short study. The researcher accepts the first nine people who respond to the advertisement. Which of the following statements is true about the sample? It is a valid sample because the first nine people were selected to participate. It is not a valid sample because it is not a random sample of the population. It is a valid sample because money was offered to participants. It is not a valid sample because it is only a short study.

@danicap @GreatGuy

OpenStudy (anonymous):

ok i can help

OpenStudy (anonymous):

ok a research is conducted with random people the first nine random so which ones can we iliminate

OpenStudy (anonymous):

the ones that dont make sense

OpenStudy (anonymous):

@kiamousekia which ones???

OpenStudy (anonymous):

idk i am not good at this

OpenStudy (anonymous):

ok well what grade you in seventh

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Because this is seventh grade math

OpenStudy (anonymous):

o so the one u can illiminate is c) it is valid cause it offers money NO

OpenStudy (anonymous):

if you look at it it says responded to the advertaiment so its valid

OpenStudy (anonymous):

if you give me money so i can say this shampoo brand works doesnt mean it really does

OpenStudy (anonymous):

yea thats true

OpenStudy (anonymous):

so c) is out

OpenStudy (anonymous):

but ik its valid so it a

OpenStudy (anonymous):

exactly proceess of illimination

OpenStudy (anonymous):

You get why right?

OpenStudy (mrnood):

does the whole population LISTEN to the radio? if so does the whole population have time ot respond to the advert? if so does the first nine make a reasonably 'random' sample - maybe the advert was broadcast at 5 a.m. - is everyone awake and ready to phone in at that time? does the sample therefore represent the whole population?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

no but that is not the question peace out

OpenStudy (anonymous):

dude you have to make a new question you cant do that lol

OpenStudy (mrnood):

@GreatGuy how do you 'know it is valid'? you are not correct

OpenStudy (anonymous):

because if you have random respond to advertisement there not paid and they can say yes or no to the product

OpenStudy (anonymous):

how am i not correct

OpenStudy (anonymous):

caN I JUST GET MY MEDAL.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

lol

OpenStudy (anonymous):

yea girl

OpenStudy (mrnood):

you have missed the point. it doesn't ask if the responders are unbiased it asks if they are a valid RANDOM sample of the WHOLE population see my questions above. this is not a valid sample

OpenStudy (anonymous):

i am very confused right now....

OpenStudy (anonymous):

i am to so much @shinebrightlikeadimon is correct

OpenStudy (anonymous):

thanks

OpenStudy (mrnood):

does the whole population LISTEN to the radio? answer NO therefore a sample drawn from ONLY radio listeners cannot be a representative sample of the population

OpenStudy (anonymous):

i still don't get what the answer is...

OpenStudy (anonymous):

look it is a good sample because it is random so it is a or d

OpenStudy (mrnood):

that's because you are waiting for someone to give you the answer (it seems the other current posters do not really know so I suggest you ignore them) try looking at my questions in earlier post and thinking about what you have been told about random samples.

OpenStudy (mrnood):

@shinebrightlikeadimon it is not a random sample - I suggest you stop posting on a topic you clearly do not understand

OpenStudy (mrnood):

OpenStudy (anonymous):

ok first of all dont insult me ok i was trying to help

OpenStudy (mrnood):

I am not insulting you - merely pointing out that you have strongly stated an answer - and it does not help if oyu do that based on insufficient knowledge

OpenStudy (anonymous):

really man wtf y u insulted people dude

OpenStudy (anonymous):

loo @kiamousekia it is either a or d

OpenStudy (anonymous):

make people vote

OpenStudy (anonymous):

something

OpenStudy (mrnood):

@shinebrightlikeadimon so oyu are saying it is 'either valid or not valid' what use is that? it is not a or d

OpenStudy (anonymous):

i pick A and now stop fighting

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Why are you being rude @MrNood

OpenStudy (mrnood):

a is not correcty

OpenStudy (anonymous):

YOu know what bye

OpenStudy (anonymous):

i don't care if it is not correct i don't what to keep listing to u being so rude!!

OpenStudy (mrnood):

@shinebrightlikeadimon a says it is valid d says it is not valid so what use is an answer that says a or d?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

stop talking @MrNood

OpenStudy (mrnood):

I am merely pointing out that @shinebrightlikeadimon and @GreatGuy are wrong that is not rude

OpenStudy (anonymous):

just stop

OpenStudy (anonymous):

@Mrnood stop now
