Supposed you are asked to find the area if a figure in a specific unit of measure, but its side lengths are measured in a different unit. What must you do first?

@johnweldon1993

OpenStudy (welshfella):

you must convert the side lengths to the same unit.

OpenStudy (welshfella):

for example if you need to find the area of a rectangle in sq inches and you are given the length as 2 feet and the width is 1 foot you convert the 2 feet and 1 foot to inches.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Should I just put in "You have to convert the side lengths to the same unit of measure,"

OpenStudy (welshfella):

You have to convert both the side lengths to the same units as the area ( well the square root of the area units)

OpenStudy (welshfella):

if the area is square inches - you convert the sides to inches if the area is sq metres - you convert the sides to metres
