Given that f(x) = 5x − 10 and g(x) = x + 3, solve for f(g(x)) when x = −1.

OpenStudy (astrophysics):

Well it's always best to find f(g(x)) first, which is just plugging g(x) wherever there is an x in f(x). So \[f(g(x)) = 5(x+3)-10\] now just find f(g(-1)) by plugging in -1 wherever there is an x.
