OpenStudy (christinestutes):

Find the area of the triangle with vertices at the given points. (0, 0), (0, 3), (4, 0) a. 3 units2 c. 6 units2 b. 7 units2 d. 9 units2

OpenStudy (christinestutes):

Not sure how to figure this out given vertices

OpenStudy (christinestutes):

help PLEASE

Nnesha (nnesha):

first you have to find distance of given points

Nnesha (nnesha):

\[\huge\rm A=\frac{ 1 }{ 2 }bh\] formula to find area of triangle

OpenStudy (christinestutes):

I know formula but don't know how to find distance of given points

Nnesha (nnesha):

http://prntscr.com/7g5c3h here draw points on the graph you can draw triangle now you need h and b so find distance between (0,0)(0,3) AND (0,0)(4,0)

Nnesha (nnesha):

formula to find distance is \[\huge\rm \sqrt{(x_2 -x_1)^2 + (y_2 -y_1)^2}\]

Nnesha (nnesha):

you DON'T have to use that formula just look at the graph and count how many unit its increasing vertical and horizontal

OpenStudy (christinestutes):

Is the answer 6 units squared

Nnesha (nnesha):

:-)

OpenStudy (christinestutes):

Ok Thanks for the graph. I get it now. Wasn't sure what to do with vertices. I have an online class but have never had Geometry yet.

OpenStudy (christinestutes):

I appreciate the help and explanations.

Nnesha (nnesha):

np :-) gO_Od luck!

Nnesha (nnesha):

thanks :-)
