Can someone help please? I think I got the answer but I need some help. An equation is shown below: 3(4x + 5) = 12 Which of the following correctly shows the beginning steps to solve this equation? http://prntscr.com/7g5nvs

OpenStudy (misty1212):

wow HI!!

OpenStudy (misty1212):

this one goes right to the "bad math" folder, but no problem we can do it

OpenStudy (anonymous):

wow

OpenStudy (misty1212):

\[3(4x+5)=12\] they want you to multiply by 3 and get \[12x+15=12\] then subtract 15 and get \[12x=-3\]

OpenStudy (misty1212):

if you were like not brain dead, like the math teacher that wrote this, you would start with \[3(4x+5)=12\] then divide by 3 and get \[4x+5=4\]

Thank you so much for helping, this is really over complicated. I asked my brother for help and even he said it was overdone and ridiculous.
