becuase the mean is almost like the middle numbers if all of them... it will increase? why because for example the mean of 7 and 9 is 8 aka the middle number so the mean of 5, 10, 17, 19, 20 is going to be waaaay higher because 1000 makess the middle number higher... see what i mean

OpenStudy (anonymous):

like mean of 5 and 7 is 6 mean of 1 and 4 is 2 the mean of 500 and 1000 is 750..the middle number os the mean of 1 and 5 is 3ish, so the mesn of 1, 5, and 100 maybe...aroung 500ish

OpenStudy (anonymous):

5,10,17,19,20,1000 Median is the middle, Which means 17+19=36 36/2=18 Median is 18 But for Mean, \[Mean=\frac{5,10,17,19,20,1000}{6}=178.5\]

So the answer would be C

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Without the 1000, Median would be 17 and Mean would be much smaller

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Yup
