Question of the day. Should all elements in the same row on the periodic table all react the same way in chemical reactions?

@jagr2713 , @Preetha , @perl , @RosieF , @Luigi0210

OpenStudy (anonymous):

@Surana , @triciaal

OpenStudy (surana):

I'm pretty sure they don't react the same way.

OpenStudy (surana):

But that's just my guess.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Do you think that the elements in the same row should act the same way in chemical reactions because they have the same number of energy levels?

OpenStudy (surana):

No.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Why do you say no? Can I get a reason?

OpenStudy (surana):

I believe that each element's chemical composition dictates a different reaction from each when an element is subjected to an experiment. Hydrogen and Helium may both produce heat upon reacting but the heat is different in intensity and temperature.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Wow that is an absolutely fantastic explanation! Couldn't have said it better myself.

OpenStudy (surana):

Thank you.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Your absolutely welcome!

OpenStudy (surana):

:D
