If 5.40 kcal of heat is added to 1.00 kg of water at 100⁰C, how much steam at 100⁰C is produced? Show all calculations leading to an answer.

We need to know how much heat it takes to vaporize water into steam; its called the heat of vaporization. It takes 2260 joules to vaporize one gram of water. We want to know the grams we can vaporize, lets call that unknown "G". Then we can write G x 2260 = 5.40 x 1000 joules. We were give 5.4o kJ to use

\[(G) \space (2260) \space = 5.40 \times 1000 \space = 5400\] Solve that for G

Sorry for long respond, I tried to understand it. I'm not good with chemistry too but from mira's explanation, we just have to evaluate the equation that she did and solve for the value of G, which is equal to.... 2.389380531 g we got the same :)
