The following function represents the profit P(n), in dollars, that a concert promoter makes by selling tickets for n dollars each: P(n) = -250n2 + 2,500n - 4,000 Part A: What are the zeroes of the above function, and what do they represent? Show your work. (4 points) Part B: Find the maximum profit by completing the square of the function P(n). Show the steps of your work. (4 points) Part C: What is the axis of symmetry of the function P(n)? (2 points)

@zepdrix Hi, I saw your reply to this question a year ago and it wa really helpful, but I had trouble understanding it. Care to help again?

OpenStudy (tropicaia):

Oh, I already have part A. I was confused on Part B

OpenStudy (anonymous):

\( P(n) = -250n^2 + 2,500n - 4,000 \) This is a parabola. You need to factor \( -250n^2 + 2,500n - 4,000 \) and solve for n to find the zeros. for part A.

OpenStudy (tropicaia):

I got n = 8 and n = 2

OpenStudy (tropicaia):

for Part A

Here is a good link on completing the square https://www.mathsisfun.com/algebra/completing-square.html

OpenStudy (tropicaia):

I like this site, thank you!

OpenStudy (anonymous):

YW, it also shows you on that page how to get the vertex for axis of symmetry for Part C

zepdrix (zepdrix):

Ooo ya I think I remember this one +_+ You get it figured out already Tropicana Banana?

OpenStudy (tropicaia):

Yes thanks.
