|dw:1435079981292:dw| The angle around any point to another on the first carbon is 109.5 degrees, meaning it is tetrahedral-shaped and around any point on the second carbon, is 120 degrees, that is, trigonal-shaped.

Not necessarily like that. When you are asked to do VSEPR, you have to mention the shape and angle around main elements. That is why I made that description for the first carbon and the second carbon. The description bases on the number of electron dense region ( number of bonds; if a bond in double or triple, consider as 1 electron dense region). The C from CH3 binds with the second C and it has 4 electron dense regions, that is why is TETRAhedral and the second carbon has 3 different electron dense region, hence that is why it is TRIgonal.
