I think someone made this suggestion already but let me refresh your mind :D I think there should be like a tutorial for when new users sign up there would be like a little short video explaining the site etc, but some users dont like to watch long videos so i have doubts on this part. Or like some sites have like arrows that point to lets say your picture and it would say "Click here to view your profile and settings etc" And would point at the online side and say "These are the helpers that are only atm" And like you can be able to skip the tutorial and just go straight to the site for users that are not patient. And should be that points you you to the Coc and TaC etc. Tell me what you think :D
@Preetha @paki @karatechopper
Good Idea... agree....
Definitely would help newcomers
Yea because a lot of users ask about how to ask questions etc and this would help them to reduce those questions asked.
This would be really helpful. I seen other sites that do similar methods like Slack and Google Plus.
or even a video series... faq? we have an faq... how would new users be offered this information? obviously has to be better than our current manual method and atm there *is* a tutorial help pop up bubbles that do come up for new accounts... idk why some people don't see them?
For real where and like slack has with their tutorials.
? some bot telling your stuff?
A prezi would be great :) This one with the old design https://prezi.com/zh5ugembaj6p/open-study/
But some sers wont do that lol they would get lazy but the bubbles would help and arrows. Speaking for my self i wouldnt really do that
Yea i like that to but we have to minimize it b.c its 7mins long and they wont watch something that long lol
Like if we just give a link and say hey watch this, they wont If we have the words like slack and fade the background of OS and thats the only thing there that say "Here is the question button" They will be forced to look there and read.
Welll i guess :/
Yea if we dim the background and leave the words then they will be forced to read it.
@perl
jag agreed :)
and what would be nice is when a user automatically signs up, they receive an automated message that says "Welcome to OpenStudy, please read the Code of Conduct here, and here is a tutorial on how to navigate the site."
Yea that to @TheSmartOne
i agree
That's a great idea (although we already have pop-ups),
However even with the popups available some users are still confused on how to use the site.
There was a tutorial video, but as jagr2713 pointed out it was too long. Yesterday was the first time I saw the video and after 2 minutes I wanted to move on because it was slow.
lol but how slack tutorial is thats how it should be. It highlights it and put everything else dark or shaded. And me to @UsukiDoll
No.
No? Please be more specific
I'm sorry but the code of conduct states that I cannot give direct answers.
Please be more specific.
Please attempt it on your own first.
oK, you said No but didnt really explain why you said no. It was to vague.
he's just joking with you
sometimes i see some jokes as something serous lol but you have to say lol or kml after it or i think its different lol ask my friend @pooja195
Saying "lol" after something thats not funny is annoying and not only that but its disrespectful if you dont know how to joke you shouldnt joke. Simple.
LOL
perfect explanation @pooja195
Why? People can and should be able to figure out the UI on their own. You don't need to teach people how to use your website. If a website receives too many questions about using it, then perhaps, the website is at fault. Right now, I don't see how OS is hard to use.
Well @ParthKohli then why are their constant question on how to ask a question or how to medal someone etc
Because they aren't as smart as him ;p
lol
