A square with sides of length 14 is inscribed in a circle and circumscribed about another circle. What is the area of the larger circle.

the inscribed circle has a radius of 7 to find the radius of the circumscribed circle you need to use pythagoras's theorem to find the length of the diagonal of the square this diagonal will also be a diameter for the circumscribed (larger) circle. so the steps are 1. find the length of the square diagonal using pythagoras, leave the answer as a radical 2. halve the value to get the radius of the larger circle 3. find the area of the larger circle using the radius you just found hope it helps
