Last one Which of the following statements is true of a solution at pH 7? A. Ka and Kb are equal. B. Kw and Kb are equal. C. Kw, Ka and Kb are equal. D. Kw and Ka are equal.

@sweetburger

OpenStudy (sweetburger):

Tbh I am not really sure about this one I am trying to think through the relation that is being asked about which is Kw=(Ka)(Kb).

OpenStudy (sweetburger):

I dont think it could be B or D.

OpenStudy (vera_ewing):

Either A or C? Which one seems the best?

OpenStudy (sweetburger):

Im leaning towards A. Because in C. if Kw, Ka, and Kb were all equal then I dont think the numbers would work out correctly. Not really sure though.

OpenStudy (vera_ewing):

Yeah it was A! :)

OpenStudy (sweetburger):

:)

OpenStudy (photon336):

I believe it's pH = -Log[H+] pOH = -Log[OH-] pH + pOH = 14 pH = 7 right? So that means pOH must also be 7 So from Kw = Ka x Kb Ka = 10^-7 kW = 10^-14 Kb = 10^-7
