I'll fan and medal ;> Which recursive formula can be used to generate the sequence shown, where f(1) = 9.6 and n > 1? 9.6, –4.8, 2.4, –1.2, 0.6, ... f(n + 1) = –0.5f(n) f(n + 1) = 0.5f(n) f(n + 1) = f(0.5n) f(n + 1) = f(–0.5n)

OpenStudy (anonymous):

think of \(f(n)\) as 'some term', and \(f(n+1)\) as 'the term afterward' -- this should make it potentially easier to understand

A

OpenStudy (jdoe0001):

hmmm test the sequence pattern, see if it gives you those numbers

OpenStudy (jdoe0001):

keep in mind that f(n+1) simply means "the following number" so if you're in the 3rd term, n = 3, and want the 4th term, or n+1 then that'd be n = 3, thus n+1 is 3+1 or f(4) and so on

OpenStudy (anonymous):

So how would I solve it?

OpenStudy (jdoe0001):

well, you could try testing the given choices see which one gives you the correct next value
