Given f(x)=5x+5 and g(x)=6x+1 then what is f(g(−8)) ?

OpenStudy (welshfella):

g(-8) = 6(-8) + 1 = ? then replace the x in f(x) by this results

OpenStudy (anonymous):

so that will be f(-8) =5(-8)+5 @welshfella

OpenStudy (anonymous):

NO

OpenStudy (anonymous):

You have to do it in order. 1) Find the value of g(-8) 2) Now your new value for "x" to use in f(x) is the value you just found g(-8) so you would have x=g(-8) and you should evaluate f(x) in you new "x" value (g(-8)) 3) At the end you should have something like f(g(-8))=5g(-8)+5

OpenStudy (anonymous):

okay so i did g(-8) = 6(-8) + 1 = ? and got -47 so now i do this f(-47)=5(-47)+5

OpenStudy (welshfella):

yes

OpenStudy (anonymous):

so -230 ?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

yes

OpenStudy (anonymous):

thats the answer?

OpenStudy (welshfella):

yep

OpenStudy (anonymous):

could you help me with one more pleasee?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Match the correct graph to the function shown. f(x)=2sqrt3−4x +3

try wolphramalpha.com it's really good at drawing this type of functions. And it's free for this feature. Plus you dont need to download anything
