Which function below has the lowest y intercept? g(x) Al had two dozen donuts when he walked into the office, but every cubicle he passed, he lost 2 donuts. h(x) h(x) = 6x + 1 or..
@jim_thompson5910 I'm not sure if you're online or not but I was just wondering if I could get some help
a.f(x) b.g(x) c.h(x) d.The functions all have the same y intercept.
are you able to find the equation for g(x) ?
umm I'm not sure..
I mean, is it y=24x-2?
y = mx + b where B is the y intercept so you're basically just looking for where the line intercepts the y-axis, and to me it just sounds like you're finding the lowest numerical value.
not quite
uhh ok..could you please clarify?
it's actually g(x) = -2x + 24 the slope is -2, signifying he loses 2 donuts per cubicle (x = # of cubicles he passes) the y-intercept is 24, which is what he starts with
ok, makes sense. Sorry
as Teddyiswatshecallsme posted, the equation I have is in the form y = mx+b m = -2 is the slope b = 24 is the y-intercept
So do I just look at all the B's and find which is the lowest?
exactly
Its important to note that f(x) is the same as y, and g(x) is just the changed form of f(x)
with the graph, the y-intercept is the point where it crosses the vertical y axis
ok so is h(x) the lowest? Since it's B is 1?
I'm pretty sure the answer is C but ha I'm not sure
yeah the graph has a y intercept of 2 (larger than h(x)'s y intercept) and g(x) has the largest y intercept of 24
Ok thank you tons!! I really appreciate it!
you're welcome
