Mammals generally care for their young. Most turtles abandon their young. What term describes both of these behaviors?

R-Selected Species:
Put out a large amount of offspring but do not put any energy into caring for them and offspring generally has a low survival rate.
K-Selected Species:
Has very few offspring and invest time and energy to care for and nurture them until maturity. 

I'm not sure what the single term would be to describe both of hem though. These terms describe each based on the behaviors you provided.

turtles are reptiles therefore arnt mammals so they wouldn't care for there young

maybe caring for young is not a true classification for group population such as mammals vs reptiles vs amphibians etc.  For simplicity, birds are known to care for their young and they are not mammals.
