Given the system of equations presented here: 4x + y = 4 2x + 7y = 28
Which of the following actions creates an equivalent system such that, when combined with the other equation, one of the variables is eliminated? A)Multiply the second equation by −1 to get −2x − 7y = −28 B)Multiply the second equation by −4 to get −8x − 28y = −112 C)Multiply the first equation by −7 to get −28x − 7y = −28 D)Multiply the first equation by −2 to get −8x − 2y = −8

Have you done this thing before?
no, i think i posted but nobody answered ;/
You can multiply an entire equation through by a number and it will not change the line... you want to do that on one of the two, so when you add them together, one variable cancels out to zero
There is more than one way to do it, but by the choices, we will eliminate the y by multiplying the first equation through by a -7, so -7y + 7y = 0 4x + y = 4 2x + 7y = 28 -28x - 7y = -28 2x + 7y = 28 ------------------ add together -26x = 0
its C?
yes
