trying to understand...Write the equation in slope-intercept form of the line that contains the points (4, -7) and (0, 5)

OpenStudy (anonymous):

-3

OpenStudy (anonymous):

First, to find the equation of the line, find the slope. Use the slope formula. \[m=\frac{ y_2-y_1 }{ x_2-x_1 }\] The points are already given to you, so you just need to plug them in. \[m=\frac{ 5 - -7 }{ 0 - 4 }\] Once you get the slope, plug it in the slope-intercept formula, along with the points. y = mx + b

Plug in the points and try to solve for b. After solving for b, just plug in the values of m and b in the equation.

so the slope would be -12/7 i think. Im trying to help my son with his summer classes and they dont give much to work with.
