Assistance with functions please

OpenStudy (darkbluechocobo):

OpenStudy (darkbluechocobo):

I know this is basically saying y(x) =

OpenStudy (darkbluechocobo):

So say we take a coordinate used for the table of values from II if y(x) does that mean if we plug in 1 for y and then solve the problem should we get the same coordinate ? I am confused how to represent this

OpenStudy (anonymous):

It's asking you which of the three are functions. You don't actually have to plug anything in.

OpenStudy (darkbluechocobo):

Well i was just giving an example if the equation was there

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Functions will pass the vertical line test when they're graphed and never have the same input listed twice when given a list of points. So that's how you'd evaluate them

OpenStudy (darkbluechocobo):

so with that being said then, so 3 would be alright then? Since no inputs are repeating?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

yes

OpenStudy (anonymous):

inputs also don't repeat for II

OpenStudy (darkbluechocobo):

Yes just saw that as well so then to test I you would just fill in your own table of values and test and then graph to test?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

yes you can do that

OpenStudy (darkbluechocobo):

actually. Since its a quadratic function it would be alright as well then?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

correct

OpenStudy (darkbluechocobo):

Whoop, Thank you much for explaining!

OpenStudy (anonymous):

you're welcome
