Please help. :( Will fan and medal:)The radio station is giving the winner of this challenge a prize pack that includes tickets to see his or her favorite band in concert. To start off the challenge, the radio station has placed pennies in a cylindrical glass jar. Each penny is 0.75 inches in diameter and 0.061 inches thick. If the cylindrical glass jar containing the pennies has a diameter of 6 inches and a height of 11.5 inches, how many pennies can fit inside the jar? You must show all work to receive credit.
would I do the area of the jar divided by the pennies to see how many can fit? im not sure.
The theoretical maximum number is the volume of the jar divided by the volume of each penny. This number is a maximum number that is not really possible since there will necessarily be gaps between the coins.
okay, so how would I go about doing that if it isnt possible?

You can come up with a theoretical maximum, but I don't think it's possible to come up with an exact amount. Find the volume of the jar. It is a cylinder with diameter 6 in. and height 11.5 in. Then find the volume of a penny. It is a cylinder with diameter 0.75 in. and height 0.061 in. The divide the volume of the jar by the volume of the penny.
