Which structure is part of Pinus contorta reproduction, but not part of fern reproduction?

OpenStudy (shreehari499):

Hi! @shampopayton ! Welcome back to OpenStudy!

OpenStudy (shreehari499):

As far as i know, pinus contorta is a gymnosperm and its reproduction is different from that of ferns i.e, bryophytes

OpenStudy (shreehari499):

do you have any suggestions? @Rushwr ?

OpenStudy (rushwr):

is it the gametophyte? @shreehari499

OpenStudy (shreehari499):

A gametophyte is present in both gymno and ferns

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Ferns have a more complicated method of reproduction that depends on there being liquid water for the process to complete. As a result, they can only reproduce where there is sufficient moisture: the reproduction process itself requires moisture.
