Using subtraction of signed numbers, find the number of minutes from quarter of an hour to 30 min after the hour. Write the subtraction of signed numbers.

zepdrix (zepdrix):

subtraction of signed numbers...? 0_o hmm

zepdrix (zepdrix):

Maybe this is what they mean... so ummmm... let's call "the hour" .. ya let's call that time zero. So a quarter hour before that would be -15 minutes, yes? And we want to count all the way to 30 minutes past the hour, past the zero point. So we're counting from -15 to +30. So we subtract -15 from the 30 to get the total value. 30 - (-15)

zepdrix (zepdrix):

Maybe that's the sort of thing they want? 0_o Does it make sense?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

So would I do 30 - (-15) to find my answer

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Or is that my answer?

zepdrix (zepdrix):

yes you need to calculate 30 - (-15). It should give you a nice number.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Thanks man all it was asking for was the problem, not the solution to the answer! :D

zepdrix (zepdrix):

ohhh good call, i didn't read that part :) lol
