How are the processes of solving linear equations and linear inequalities alike and different?
They are pretty much the same. Why should we think they are different? Just that negative division thing?

Linear inequality and Linear equations are similar because with both you could be using the order of operation. It is possible to add or subtract numbers and letter that are in an inequality and equality equation. The only difference is that in a linear inequality has a less than, more than, or equal to sign. The linear equation has only a equal sign in the equation.
Not bad. Try adding something about the number of solutions. Linear equation have just one (x = 1) unless they are degenerate (5 = 5). Linear inequalities can have infinitely many solutions (x > 12). This additional information suggests that you have a good handle on what "<", ">" and "=" actually mean and how they function.
