A boy weighs 40 kilograms. He runs at a velocity of 4 meters per second north. Which is his momentum 10 kilogram meters per second south 160 kilogram meters per second north 160 kilogram meters per second south 1600 kilogram meters per second north
@Koikkara
To get momentum, just multiply the velocity with the mass. @frdoe
he doesn't weigh 40kg, unless he's on another planet :p momentum [commonly referred to as p] = m * v @Kiokkara has it
I'm not sure the specificity required in the problem; so with this in mind, it must be noted that momentum is a vector quantity that has magnitude |p|= m * |v| and direction given by the direction of the velocity vector. Here there is no requirement for unit vectors, specifying the direction is sufficient. Therefore, if the boy has his velocity vector pointed northwards; then his momentum vector will be similarly directed. I appreciate this may be above the level of the question; however you will no doubt come back across these concepts again and hopefully now you will have a heads up on your peers ;)
