OpenStudy (lilday12):

Which is not a sediment transporting agent? A. Lava flow B. A stream C. A flooding river D. Ice

OpenStudy (anonymous):

ok so lets see

OpenStudy (anonymous):

a stream carries sediment through its current so thats out

OpenStudy (anonymous):

ice.. thats tricky

OpenStudy (anonymous):

a glacier is a river of moving ice, and that deposits sediment by carrying and dropping chunks of it around so no.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

a flooding river is out of the question, it also gathers sediment

OpenStudy (anonymous):

so my best bet is lava flow, hope this helps :)

OpenStudy (emogirl100):

lava flow

OpenStudy (rushwr):

I think it should be ice ! Cuz lav a flow transports sediments like parts of thick stones etc. right? But Ice doesn't right?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

ice.

OpenStudy (emogirl100):

after i checked it should be ice

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Not ice. It is lava flow. Ice can be carrying sediment through the form of a glacier. Lava flow carries silicates, pyroclastic debris, ashes etc. And some lavas are very viscous that they cannot transport as far and stops, unlike a glacier, stream, or flood. Glacier, stream, and flood causes erosion which then creates sedimentary rock, while lava flow solidifies to form igneous rock. Sediment are solid fragments of inorganic or organic material that come from the weathering of rock and are carried and deposited by wind, water, or ice. So sediment comes from igneous rock when it gets weathered, but since lava flow creates igneous rock, it has no sediment. Sedimentary rock can be an igneous by melting but it loses all the sediment.
