WILL FAN& MEDAIL okey so I had this question in IBO 2001: A 59. Erythrocytes of man with blood group A are mixed with blood plasma of another man. No agglutination is observed. It can be concluded that the blood group of the plasma donor is: A. only B. B. A or 0. C. A or AB. D. A, B or 0. The answer page said C but shouldn't the answer be B as 0 can give to any blood type and A can mix with A?
I think it is B as well, could it be that the answer page was wrong?
Blood type A has anti-B antibodies and blood type B has anti-A antibodies. They interfere with each other - the antibodies start to invade and destroy eachother's red blood cells and cause clumping.
Blood group A has only A antigen on red cells (and B antibody in the plasma) Blood group b has only B antigen on red cells (and A antibody in the plasma) Blood group AB has both A and B antigens on red cells (but neither A nor B antibody in the plasma) Blood group o has neither A nor B antigens on red cells (but both A and B antibody are in the plasma)
So I think the answer given should be right !
yea i know but how could the answer be C then?
so it is B?
yes i think it is B
no C is correct. !
When u have A antigen anti-A antibodies will not be produced by them .if B type blood is injected into their systems, anti-B antibodies in their plasma will recognize it as alien and burst or agglutinate the introduced red cells in order to cleanse the blood of alien protein.
okey so the guy has A so B antigens how could it be that the donor blood has AB like C answer suggests
Blood group AB has both A and B antigens on red cells (but neither A nor B antibody in the plasma) So if A blood was mixed with this it won't identify it as an alien.
but the answers say the donor blood right? A is de receptor
so if AB gets into A wont the receptor blood agglumerate because A got anti-B
nIn AB u don't find either A or B antibodies . So even if u add B blood no change will occur. :)
when AB is the one receiving A or B indeed but not when it is the donor blood right? because A and B have antibodies against the opposite thing
Blood group A has B antibodies Bloood group B has A antibodies Blood group AB has no A or B antibodies Blood group O has both A and B antibodies !
yeah and the receptor has A so has B antibodies right? so if AB gets injected it agglumerates right?
