7u+5v

OpenStudy (mathstudent55):

Combine like terms.

OpenStudy (christian_10_):

ok, Great thank you both!

OpenStudy (anonymous):

welcome :)

OpenStudy (mathstudent55):

Like terms are terms with the same variables. Terms with u are like terms. They can be added or subtracted together. Terms with v are like terms. They can be added or subtracted together. A term with v and a term with u are not like terms because of the different variables and cannot be added or subtracted together. \(3u + 7v + 4u – 2v =\) \(3u + 4u + 7v - 2v \) \(7u + 5v\) Also notice that the sign of a term, + or -, is the sign before it. Notice the last term of the original expression is -2v.
