The answer is yes because A comes before B, B before C, etc. Put another way, A has a higher "value" than B. B is higher than C, etc. This all means grades are ordinal. The grades are qualitative because they aren't numeric values. If they were numeric values that you could do math on, then it would be quantitative

When something is discrete, it is countable. You can list all of the elements and it doesn't go onto infinity

I guess you could order based on the political spectrum (democrats on left, republicans on right) but there are many parties than just those two. So it doesn't make much sense to order them. In this case, the data is nominal nominal means "name" more or less. The data is just a bunch of name labels
