Whiteboard markers cost $4.75 per set at an office supply store. Which equation can be used to determine the price, P, of n sets of these markers? p = 4.75 n = 4.75p p = 4.75/n n = 4.75/p

OpenStudy (phi):

if you want to buy two sets, any idea how much it will cost?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

9.5 $

OpenStudy (phi):

how did you find that number?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

well since you said how it will cost for two sets so i multiplied the price for one set by two

OpenStudy (phi):

most people would multiply 2*4.75

OpenStudy (anonymous):

thats what i did

OpenStudy (phi):

if you bought 3 sets you would do 3*4.75 it looks like the rule is multiply the number of sets times 4.75

OpenStudy (phi):

now even though we use a letter "n" instead of a number we can still use that same rule.

OpenStudy (phi):

n sets how much to buy "n" sets? use the same rule.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

so is the answer n = 4.75p

OpenStudy (phi):

it would be price is n times 4.75 or if we shorten that up price = 4.75n (which means the same thing) or p= 4.75n I don't see that as one of your choices, but that is the answer.
