Are the answers 4.5 and 7.5?
OpenStudy (phi):
I would use ratios
2 inches is to 25 miles as x inches is to 60 miles
we would write that like this
\[ \frac{2}{25}= \frac{x}{60} \]
to "find x" , I would multiply both sides by 60, like this
\[ \frac{2}{25}\cdot 60= \frac{x}{60}\cdot 60 \]
can you finish ?
OpenStudy (horsegal244):
\[\frac{ 120 }{ 1500 }\] and \[\frac{ X }{120 }\]

you should get
\[ \frac{2\cdot 60}{25} = x \]
OpenStudy (horsegal244):
oh 120
OpenStudy (phi):
I am not sure what you did
but it is worth getting the idea (if you have time)
\[ \frac{2}{25}= \frac{x}{60} \]
if you multiply both sides by 60, this make the 60 on the right side "go away"
because \[ \frac{x\cdot 60}{60} = \frac{x\cdot \cancel{60}}{\cancel{60}} =x\]
OpenStudy (phi):
and on the left side
\[ \frac{2\cdot 60}{25} = \frac{120}{25} \]
so
\[ x= \frac{120}{25} \]
you can simplify that. what do you get ?
OpenStudy (horsegal244):
4.8
