The lines "I have seen roses damasked, red and white, / But no such roses see I in her cheeks; / And in some perfumes is there more delight / Than in the breath that from my mistress reeks" employ a humor device. Identify the device used and discuss its effect on the meaning and tone of the poem.

I think this is Hyperbole?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

A hyperbole is an exaggerated statement or claim not meant to be taken literally. Perhaps it might be verbal irony, which is irony in which a person says or writes one thing and means another, or uses words to convey a meaning that is the opposite of the literal meaning. I think verbal irony would be your best bet.
