What are the intervals of f(x)=3/(x+4)....where f is continuous

OpenStudy (irishboy123):

\[ f(x) = \frac{3}{x+4}\] yes ? what do you think?

OpenStudy (irishboy123):

and what does "continuous" mean?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

not sure..its review and i forgot @IrishBoy123

OpenStudy (irishboy123):

hello alex have you tried plotting this function? in your head counts!

ganeshie8 (ganeshie8):

Is this chain continuous ? what happens if you break it somewhere ? |dw:1440806051202:dw|

ganeshie8 (ganeshie8):

Maybe that is a bad example, but as you can see the word "continuous" has the same meaning in math that you would expect it to have. If the graph of function looks broken at some place, then the function isn't continuous. Just graph the given function and you will see a discontinuity at \(x = -4\).
