quick little half chemistry question: I know an isotope of an element needs to have the same number of protons, but can vary in neutrons. Can it vary in electrons?

OpenStudy (abhisar):

Not in neutral state but number of electrons can vary in ionic state.

OpenStudy (abhisar):

But when talking generally (if it is not mentioned about state) the answer should be no, they can't cz No. of Protons = No. of electrons

OpenStudy (anonymous):

that's what i thought, thank you

OpenStudy (abhisar):

Most welcome ;)
