OpenStudy (daniel_chernioglo):

What is the slope of the line between (3, -4) and (-2, 1)? May I please get help with this? Thanks

OpenStudy (anonymous):

This is the formula for slope, m, given two points \[m=\frac{ y_2-y_1 }{ x_2-x_1 }\] Pick (3, -4) to be \((x_1,y_1)\) and (-2, 1) to be \((x_2,y_2)\).

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Then plug them into the formula \[m=\frac{ 1-(-4) }{ -2-3 }\] and evaluate

OpenStudy (daniel_chernioglo):

ok so} answer is: 5/1 which equals 5?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

no. the numerator is 5. Check your work on the denominator

OpenStudy (daniel_chernioglo):

oh lol, it = -5, so the answer is -1?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

yes

OpenStudy (daniel_chernioglo):

ok thanks :)

you're welcome
