Simplify the expression. (10 + 1)2 – 52 A 125 B 75 C 96 D 146
@geny55
\[\huge\rm (10+1)^2-52\] like this /
?*
i guess it's \[\huge\rm (10+1)^2 -5^2\]right ?
if yes then start with the parentheses add those two numbers inthe parentheses and then take square
I tried and got -41?
how did you get -41? explain plz :=)
well you said to do that problem right^ ? well I tried it anyways (10+1) 2 - 52 and got -41 but im not sure if im doing it right cause that is not an option and at first I thought that it would be 75 which is option b , so im a little confused , am I right on b? cause I couldn figure out but I looked out for some help , but I don't know 100% if they are sure
what was ur first step ?
well my first step was to do (10 + 1) first and I got 11 and then my next step was to do 2-52 which is -50 then I was thinking now to add -50 + 11 =-39 but the thing is that when I do the problem it doesn't seem to come up with an option :/
hold on before you respond . let me double check please first
well I still had gotten -41 but what I did is addi guess 11+ -41+ -39= -80 so I think its b for an estimate since 80 is closer but im not too sure im right , am I
2 is an exponent right ?
yes
it should be (11)^2 which is same as 11 times 11 and same with 5^2 same as 5 times 2 and then subtract
\[(11)^2-5^2\] 11 times 11- 5 times 5
ok I did 11*11 and 5*2 then I did 121-10 and got 111
no wait I did 5*5 the n I got 96

so c? yea thanks!
yep no problem :=)
