Is the expression x3•x3•x3 equivalent to x3•3•3? Why or why not? Explain your reasoning.

\[x^3\times x^3\times x^3\] equivalent to \[(((x^3)^3)^3)\]

Help, I know that the second equation would net me with x^27, but the first would only be x^9 correct?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

yup the first would give you x^9

OpenStudy (anonymous):

I thought so, why is that? .-.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

its one of the properties of exponents. If they have the same base which is "x " then you add the exponents. so you get 3+3+3 which is 9.
