Is it asking you to multiply the two equations?
idk thats why im needing help it doesnt say
I'm pretty sure its asking you to multiply, do you know how to multiply two equations with distribution?
i agree that it makes the most sense, according to the choices, to multiply them
You can set it up, this is a poorly set up question. \[(x^2 - 2)(3x^2 + 2x - 2)\]
@ barbdewysveck1 Your selection is correct
the setup is fine, it mimics multiplying by numbers just fine. the instructions are a bit vague tho
k thx can u help me with another one please
If you just look at the final numbers, there is only one possible option. A negative times a negative is a positive . . .
Sure
@robtobey what does that line under the equation mean?
\[\left(3 x^2+2 x-2\right) \left(x^2-2\right)=3 x^4+2 x^3-8 x^2-4 x+4 \]
@robtobey what does that line under the equation mean?
It's multiplication, but it's definitely pretty vague.
If you look at the options there's no way you could use addition to come up with those.
k thanks
@barbdewysveck1 Assumed the line was multiplication like 3 x 9 ____ 12 Was not certain until Mathematica calculated the product.
if it's so easy, makes one wonder why post it at all
Made a blunder in my last posting. The entry should have been: 3 x 9 ____ 27
