Explain the difference in meaning between |-3| and -3 Please help!!!

Anything in an absolute value is positive.

OpenStudy (iwillrektyou):

The first one is |-3| so it is just 3. The second doesn't have absolute value, so it is negative/original.

The three inside the lines is the Absolute Value. Absolute Value is the distance from a number line. SO if you have l-3l it's just 3 because it's three away from 0 on a number line.
