There ions are formed to reach to the nearest stable electronic configuration i.e. noble gas configuration.......So, in case of them, Li needs to reach He config. i.e. 1 less e-, so, ion will be Li1+

He has 2e- but Li has 3, so, 3-2=+1

group 1 is -1 generally, and group 2 is +2,, transitions have many different ones, and the others,halogens -1, then moving left -1 more each.. to begin
