Find a general form of an equation for the perpendicular bisector of the segment AB. A(2, −1), B(−3, 8)
A perpendicular bisector in this context refers to a line segments that intersects the given line segment (given in terms of its end points).... and forms a right angle to it. Therefore find the equation of the line of the given line segment and the slope of the desired line will be the opposite reciprocal of the the slope of the given line. I.e. if the given line has a slop m then the desired line will have a slope -1/m
I left out the other important detail... the perp bisector forms right angles at the intersection point... but it also cuts the line segment exactly in half. Meaning, you have to find the halfway point on the given line also and this will be a point on the desired line.
