Hey! I can help you with this! So, you know that 1 and 2 together make up a straight line. Meaning they're supplementary angles, right? And do you know the angle of a straight line?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

do you mean the angle of a straight line in general or the angle for this?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

The angle of ANY straight line. :)

OpenStudy (anonymous):

its 90 right?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Not quite! A 90 degree angle looks like an L. A straight line is 180 degrees. (You know how spinning around in a full circle is called a 360? Well half of that would be a straight line. And half of 360 is 180) :)

OpenStudy (anonymous):

So now you know that angles 1 and 2 make up 180 degrees. So if angle 2 is 34, what does that make angle 1? :)

OpenStudy (anonymous):

34?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Nope. Think about it. The two angles make up 180. If one is 34, then you'd subtract 34 from 180. Your remainder is 146. Angle 1 is 146. Does that make sense?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

no not really

OpenStudy (anonymous):

XD I just read your name. XP

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Are you just kidding then?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

im being serious

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Alright. Idk if you're kidding or not (since your name is troller XD) but I'll help you until it makes sense. :) So try this one. You have two angles that share a side. Together, the bottom makes a straight line. We know that a straight line is 180 degrees. So, if the angle on the right is 80 degrees, what is the angle on the left?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

well i thought it would be 80 cause there the both the same size

OpenStudy (anonymous):

like same angle

OpenStudy (anonymous):

They're not going to be the same size unless it's cut in half. If one is 80 degrees. And you have to get 180 degrees, how much is the other angle?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

100

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Yup!! :D
