Two atoms with the same number of protons but a different number of neutrons are (2 points) ions of the same element. in the same column of the periodic table. next to each other on the periodic table. isotopes of the same element.

Do you have any idea what the answer might be?

OpenStudy (whpalmer4):

Proton count defines which element you have. Total nucleon count (protons + neutrons) defines which isotope you have.

OpenStudy (whpalmer4):

proton count = atomic number (Z)

OpenStudy (whpalmer4):

ions have differing numbers of electrons from the normal neutral atomic state. proton and neutron counts do not change when ionizing an atom.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

isotopes of the same element.
