Why do you think the religious tensions that developed during the Reformation among European nations spread to the Americas?

People from Europe came to the Americas, and there were still tensions present amongst the group @angle360
- The Reformation began in 1517 in Europe,and 1534 in England - before anybody except Spain had colonies in the Americas.As the Spanish were 100% Catholic,the Reformation never spread to their colonies.English colonies were in the Americas were established between 1607 and 1733,French ones in the early 17th century but the French colonists were Catholic, so again no spread of the Reformation to their colonies.The Dutch established colonies in South America in the 1590s,and in North America from 1614,but as the Dutch were all Protestants,there was no need for a Protestant Reformation in their colonies.

The reformation had no effect on the colonies which were autonomous for the most part and staked out their own locations geographically. Many came to America for religious freedom originally, some for opportunity and some for adventure, and some for land .The Pilgrims, the Congregationalists, the Quakers, the Baptists, and the Puritans all separated from each other geographically and revelled in their religious freedom and lack of interference by any political bodies.. And of course, the prevailing mood was little or no government was wanted or needed until around 1800, long after Jamestown settlement of 1607. I hope this helps!
