sigma sigma sigma... I finished adding up the whole equation and i was wondering what is the correct way to write it all down?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

@Nnesha

Nnesha (nnesha):

sigma and osama ma XD

OpenStudy (anonymous):

for 1 i got -12, for 2 i got 26 for 3 i got -42 and for 4 i got 60

Nnesha (nnesha):

hmm for 2 how did you get 26 ?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

oh wow, just realized i did this wrong... i was multiplying by the whole number instead of doing the power thing... so like, instead of doing (-1)^2 i was doing (-1)(2)

OpenStudy (anonymous):

for 2 i should get 13, not 26

OpenStudy (anonymous):

for 3 i should get -14 and for 4 i should get 15

Nnesha (nnesha):

right! \[\huge\rm (-1)^\color{reD}{2}(\color{red}{2}+11)=13\]

OpenStudy (anonymous):

what is the correct form of writing this whole thing as an answer instead of having a bunch of equations everywhere?

Nnesha (nnesha):

so -12,13,-14,15

OpenStudy (anonymous):

tha's all?

Nnesha (nnesha):

hmm to find sum we can use formula or just add all terms -12+13-14+15 i have to go i'm getting late but i'll look at it later i can't think right now

Nnesha (nnesha):

we don't need any equation for this just show ur work like (-1)^1 (1+11)= -12 and all other 3 terms and then add that's it

Nnesha (nnesha):

here is a link if you need more information http://home.windstream.net/okrebs/page136.html
