H E L P need immediate help please. fan + medal to anyone who can explain this in detail !! 26.4g of anhydrous copper (ii) sulfate is rehydrated by addition of water to form copper (ii) sulfate pentahydrate. What is the mass of the resulting hydrated crystal? i tried this and i got 116.4 but,, nope

OpenStudy (nottim):

I can't help much, but to help you help anyone looking in, maybe show your work, and maybe we can figure it out.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

well i kind of just guessed and got it wrong, but here's what i did (it's wrong as heck but here it is! !) since it's asking whats the mass of the resulting hydrate which is CuSo4 • 5H2O did 26.4 + 90 (5 x 18 g H2O) = 116.4. btw it provides the answer, which is 41.3 but idk how to get this answer :c i need to understand cuz test tomorrow

OpenStudy (nottim):

Is this stoichiometry?

OpenStudy (nottim):

Did you draw out a balanced equation?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

CuSO4 + 5H2O = CuSO4 • 5H2O ? idk how el se to put it,

OpenStudy (nottim):

Yeah I got a unreasonable answer too, 191g

OpenStudy (nottim):

Did you balance the charges?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

well isn't it already balanced. unless the equation is wrong. this seems really simple but noone helping :) and thanks for trying to help! i would help with yours but i didnt learn molality yet ;

OpenStudy (nottim):

I dunno...maybe draw a bohr rutherford diagram to see if its balanced or something. i'm sorry. i wanna help, i've done this before, i'm just a little tired.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

thats ok! u should get some sleep then. thanks again
