A. Substances that are polar in nature. The reason is because when something is polar it has a positive and a negative end. In water there is autoionization which means the water splits into H+ and OH- and reforms into H20 spontaneously. Since this occurs a polar molecule will attract to the ionized water, the plus side of the molecule will atractive hydroxides (OH-) and the minus side of the molecule will attract hydrogen ions (H+). :)
